09 Days/08 Nights Druk Path trek. Recommended Season: March to June and September to November.
This Historic Drukpath Trek follows the ancient trade route which connected Western Bhutan until the development was introduced in the country in 1960`s. The British officials stationed in Sikkim and Late Indian Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and his team has trekked through this route to get into Bhutan. This mild trek allows the travelers to enjoy the daily lives of rural Bhutanese people and also enjoy the pristine forest with rare glimpse of wildlife.

Day 01: Paro (Situated at 2200m)
During this flight one will enjoy the view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan Mountains including the sacred Mt. Jhomolhari of Bhutan. Upon landing on the beautiful Paro valley our team (who will be there with you until you depart back) will accord a warm traditional reception and take you to hotel.
After lunch, visit Taa Dzong, previously the watch tower which has now been converted to National Museum. From Taa Dzong we will take a short trek to visit Rinpung Dzong which was built in 17th Century by Great Zhabdrung Ngwang Namgyel and has served as a key strategic place to defend the external forces. Towards evening you can take a stroll in the town. Overnight at hotel in Paro.
Day 02: Paro: Acclamatization and visit to Taktshang monastery
No trip to Bhutan for that matter is complete without a hike and/or taking pictures of Taktshang monastery. As such after breakfast, drive for half an hour and start the hike to Taktshang, the Tiger Nest Monastery where Guru Rinpochhe is believed to have flown here on the back of a tigress to to spread Buddhism in 746 A.D. The round trip takes about 4 hours. As you reach Taktshang you will be struck by the architectural wonder of this most pious Buddhist shrine in Bhutan.
Towards late afternoon drive further North to visit Drugyel Dzong, or “Castle of the Victorious Drukpa,” that was built by Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyel to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over the Tibetans in the 16thcenturies. It is undergoing reconstruction. Depending upon the weather, the Jomolhari Peak (“Mountain of the Goddess”) can be seen on a clear day (Alt. 7,329m/24,029ft.). Overnight at hotel in Paro.
Day 03: Paro to Jili Dzong (At 3440m, dist: 12 km, time 4-5hrs)r After breakfast we will drive about 15 minutes until reaching the begining of trek head. Then our trail starts with a gradual ascend where we will be seeing the stunning view of mountains and the valleys. Overnight at Tented camps in Jili Dzong.
Day 04: Jili Dzong to Jangchup Lakha (At 3785m, dist: 12 km, time 4-5hrs)
The trek starts with short ascend and descend trough alpine meadow and thick alpine forest. The highest point is a saddle at 3,590m where we will just follow the beautiful ridge line. En route we are likely to see or hear some monal pheasants, and on clear weather one can have a breathtaking view of the mount Jhomolhari, Mount Tsherim Gang and Jichu Drakey. Overnight at Tented camps in Jangchup Lakha – a yak pasture.
Day 05: Jangchup Lakha to Jimi Langtsho (At 3870m, dist: 13 km, time 4-5hrs)
The day starts with a steep climb through the forest of junipers, then gradual ascend and descend through dwarf rhododendrons thickets. The highest point of the trek is around 4170 m at Jangchu La. The halt will be made at Jimilangtsho Lake situated at 3870 m. The name bears the significance of emergence of bull from the sand, hence the Sand Bull Lake, The bull is believed to have joined the cattle of a family that uses the area as a summer grazing ground. Overnight at Tented camps in Jimilangtsho.
Day 06: Jimilangtsho to Simtokha Tsho (At 4015m, dist: 13 km, time 4-5hrs )
The trek start with a short descends through dwarf rhododendrons thickets until we arrive at another lake known as Jahnye Tsho. Then a gradul climb follows through the dwarf rhododendrons till we reach for our night halt. The feature of the trek is trekkers can clearly revisit by having a clear view of the trekking route that has been taken so far. Overnight at Tented camps in Simkota.
Day 07: Simtokha to Thimphu (At 2300, dist: 16 km, time 5-6 hrs)
The trek begins begings with a short ascend until we reach the highest point at Phume Laa pass located approximately at 4200 m, where on clear day one we can have views of mountains. From here on, its all descend taking us to Thujidrag temple, a retreat center and Phajoding Monastry located at 3850 m. We can also have a clear view of Thimphu valley underneath. After travelling a down hill trek of about 2 hours we reach to road point, where vehicle will take us to hotel in Thimphu for overnight halt.
Day 08: Thimphu to Paro (At 2245m, dist: 55 kms, time 1 hr)
After breakfast, we will visit Kwangjangsa area where all the heritage and conservation areas are located. Our first visit will be Folk Heritage Museum to see the replica of an age old traditional farmhouse, followed by Traditional Medicine Institute where rich herbal medicines are manufactured and dispensed. Another interesting place to visit will be Traditional School of Arts and Crafts where 13 arts and crafts of Bhutan are taught. Before proceeding to Paro, we will visit the Handicraft Emporium (Government run) as well as private handicraft shops in the town and help one for yourself.
Towards evening drive around 1 hour to Paro along the river banks for overnight halt in hotel.
Day 09: Departure
After breakfast, our transport team will reach you to the Airport and will bid farewell for safe journey.
10 Days/9 Nights Jomolhari trek via Soe Yaksa. Recommended timing- April to June and September to November
This trek leads you towards Soe Yaksa and then to come through Shana, Paro (the same entry and exit point).

Towards evening drive further North to visit another symbolic structure, which is now being reconstructed. Drugyel Dzong, or “Castle of the Victorious Drukpa,” was built by the Shabdrung to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over the Tibetans in the 16thcenturies. Depending upon the weather, the Jomolhari Peak (“Mountain of the Goddess”) can be seen on a clear day (Alt. 7,329m/24,029ft.).
Day03: Paro to Thangthangkha (At 3620m, dist: 22 kms, time 7-8 hrs)
After breakfast, drive around 2 hours to Shana, from where the actual trekking starts. Shana, the begining of the trek route also coincide with the boundary of the Jigme Dorji National Park. The entire trek falls with the park area. The trail is gradual and will passes through the conifer forest and Rhododendron following along the Pachu river. The features of the trek is when we reach at Tshenduzam, a magnificent view of Mt. Jhomolhari can be seen. Overnight at Tented camp at Thangthangka.
Day 04: Thangthangkha to Jomolhari base (At 4090 m, dist: 10 kms, time 5-6hrs)
The route passes through the villages of Soe (semi-nomadic community) and will see some government establishments on the way until we reach to our campsite beneath a ruined fortress at the base of Mt. Jhomolhari, situated in place called as Jangothang. Overnight at Tented camps at Jomolhari base camp.
Day 05: Acclimatization at Jomolhari base camp
Jangothang, where actual Jomolhari base camp lies is a perfect environment for acclimatization, as beyond which the trekkers have to pass through high passes. There are various options of taking day hikes, such as trek up to Tsohphu tsho (lake), day-hikes to see great views of Jhomolhari and Jichu Drake, and also interact with nearby herders. Also you will have good chances to spot some blue sheep and on rare occasion see Snow Leopard. Overnight at Tented camps at Jomolhari base camp.
Day06 :– Jangothang to Soe Yaksa (At 4100 m, dist:18km, time 7-8 hrs)
Start early with an ascend for the first part passing through the beautiful alpine landscape and Tshophu lake, set against the backdrop of Jomolhari mountain. You will see herds of blue sheep grazzing along eith yaks, and if you are lucky you may come across Snow Leopard, an illusive and endangered high himalayan cat. We conquer Bonte La Pass at 4, 890m, the highest on our trek. From here it’s a steep descend until we reach Soe Yaksa village, surrounded by impressive rock cliffs, waterfalls, deep side valleys and snow capped peaks. Halt at Tented camp in Soe Yaksa
Day 07: Soe Yaksa to Thombu Shong (At 4180m, dist: 12 kms, time 5-6 hrs)
The trail climbs over a ridge to drop to another stream. Then we will pass the ruins of Soe Dzong and make steady climb to cross Takhung La pass (4520m). A gradual descend will take us to our camp side beside the yak herders camp. Overnight at Tentend camps at Thombu Shong.
Day 08: Thombu to Shana and then to Paro (At 2850m, dist: 13km, time 5-6 hrs trekking)
We ascend through rhododendrons forest up to Thombu La pass (4, 350 m), then a steep descend leads us to the military establishment of Bhutanese Armyat Gunitsawa. From here the vehicle will pick and drive about 2 hours to reach hotel.

Day 09: Paro (2245m) to Thimphu (2300m, dist: 55 kms, time 1 hr)
After breakfast drive around 1 hour to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan along the river banks. Enroute visit Tachhog Lhakhag by the river side, which was built by Thangtong Gyalpo.
After arriving in Thimphu, we will visit Tashi Chodzong, the present day Head Quarters of the King, and also summer residence of the Chief Abbot of the Central Monastic Body. It is also the administrative centre of Bhutanese Government and then Kwangjangsa area where all the heritage and conservation areas are located. Our first visit will be Folk Heritage Museum to see the replica of an age old traditional farmhouse and also to see the traditional clay pot being made, followed by Traditional Medicine Institute where rich herbal medicines are manufactured and dispensed. Another interesting place to visit will be Traditional School of Arts and Crafts where 13 arts and crafts of Bhutan are taught.
Towards evening we will visit the Memorial Chorten built in memory of the Third King, the Father of Modern Bhutan. Overnight at hotel in Thimphu.
Day 10: Thimphu – Paro (Departure)
Early morning drive around one hour to reach you to the Airport and bidding farewell for safe journey.
11 Days/10 Nights Jomolhari trek via Lingshi. Recommended timing- April to June and September to November
This loop to Jhomolhari trek has an exit through Dodena, Thimphu.

Day 06: Jomolhari base to Camp near Lingshi Dzong (At 4020 m, dist: 18 kms, time 6-7hrs)
After breakfast, start the trek with an ascend up the mountainside until reaching Nyelila pass situated at 4870m. During the ascend you will be seeing the Mt.Jhomolhari, Mt. Jichu Drake and Tsherim Gang all of them rising above 7000 meters apart from seeing folks of blue sheep grazing on the mountain slopes.
From Nyelila pass the trail leads you down to the camp site located at the tree line. Enroute you will pass by some of the yak herder’s tent, made from yak wool, where the herders take shelter while on the move to various pastures along with their their yaks.

Day 07: Lingshi to Zhodu (At 4100, dist: 22kms, time 8-9hrs)
After breakfast, start ascending until we reach Yelila pass situated at an altitude of 4,930m, from where, on a clear day you will get an excellent view of Jhomolhari, Tserim Gang and Masang Gang mountains. Then we have to make steep downhill trek until we reach at campsite. Overnight at Tented Camp in Zhodu.
Day 08: Zhodu to Barshong (At 3700m, dist: 16 kms, time 5-6 hrs)
We start following the Thimphu Chu (river) passing through fir and hemlock forests until we reach at the ruins of Barshong Dzong. Overnight at tented Camp in Barshong.
Day 09: Barshong to Dodena (At 2600, dist: 21 kms, time 7-8 hrs)
We start our day following the Thimphu Chu (river), passing through dense forests of rhododendron, birch, conifer, maples and bamboos until we reach at the exit point of the route, where you will see the sign board of Jigme Dorji National Park (the boundary of park also ends here). You may see goral on the slopes. We will drive to Thimphu the capital city for about half an hour and overnight at hotel in Thimphu.
Day 10: Thimphu sight seeing.
After breakfast we will visit Tashi Chodzong, the present day Head Quarters of the King, and also summer residence of the Chief Abbot of the Central Monastic Body. After which we will drive back to visit the Centenary Farmers market where people from nearby villages come here to sell their farm products. It is fun to wander within the stalls and this market scene offers wonderful opportunity for photographs and to mingle with local people.
We will also be witnessing our Royal dancers practicing at Royal Academy of Performing Arts (RAPA), then visit Folk Heritage Museum to see the replica of an age old traditional farmhouse and also to see the traditional clay pot being made. Just above it lie Traditional Medicine Institute where rich herbal medicines are manufactured and where our Traditional Medical practitioners undergo training equivalent to MBBS. Another interesting place to visit will be Traditional School of Arts and Crafts where 13 arts and crafts of Bhutan are taught.
Towards evening we will visit the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and privately owned crafts shops, which offer a wide range of handcrafted products, including the splendid thangkha paintings and exquisitely woven textiles for which Bhutan is famous. Later drive to Buddha Point, where tallest Buddha in Bhutan majestically sit atop the hill overlooking Thimphu town in its entirety. Overnight at hotel in Thimphu.
Day 11: Thimphu to Paro (Departure)
Early morning drive around one hour to reach you to the Airport and bidding farewell for safe journey
17 Days/16 Nights Beautiful Laya and Lingshi trek (17 days). Recommended timing- April to June and September to November
This trek is one of the most beautiful trekking routes in Bhutan. Through this trek, one can enjoy the wonders of nature and scenic mountain peaks of Bhutan (including the majestic Jhomolhari, Jichu Drakey, Tsherim Gang and Gangchhenta), sight some of the rare and endangered animals (snow leaopard and Takin), and also see folks of blue sheep, see the Highland culture and their traditions of yak rearing. Further the entire trek falls with the juridiction of Jigme Dorji National Park and you will get to see the National icons such as National bird, National flower, National tree and National animal. Part of the trekking area has also been used and blessed by the Great Saint, Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyal, the fouding father of Bhutan as he embarked his journey from Tibet to Bhutan. The trek suitably ends with dipping in hot spring revered for its medicinal values.

Day 07: Lingshi to Chebisa (At 3880m, dist: 10 kms, time 5-6hrs)
Enroute you will see Lingshi Dzong, pass through village below Lingshi Dzong where the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Thimphu has a drying plant for its medicinal herbs.
Overnight at Tented camps in Chebisa
Day 08: Chebisa to Shomuthang (At 4265m, 17 kms, 6-7 hrs)
The trek starts with an ascend along the meadow till Gobula pass (4440m). Enroute we will see some blue sheep grazing in high yak pastures. After the Gobula pass, it’s mostly desending passing through junipers and fir forest until we arrive at camp beside stream.r Overnight at Tented Camp in Shomuthang.
Day 09: Shomuthang to Robluthang (At 4165 m, dist: 18 kms, time 6-7hrs)
The days start with a short steep climb and then along the ridge and valley crisscrossing the stream for a few times until we reach at Jhari La pass (4760 m). Along the route edelweiss flowers and view of snowcapped peak to the south-east called Khang Bum (6526 m) can be seen. After Jarila, the trail descends down through dwarf rhododendrons, junipers and fir forest till the campsite. The area is also used by takin as their summer habitat and if you visit the area during summer you will see be able to see herds of takin grazing. Overnight at Tented Camp in Robluthang.
Day 10: Robulthang to Limithang (At 4135m, dist: 19 kms, time 6-7hrs)
We will have to start little early as we will be passing over the highest point on this trek, Shingjay la Pass at 5005 m and as such the trek may look tough till the top. From here, we will start descending through a cedar forest interspersed with small meadows to Limithang, which is under Laya Geog (block), under Gasa District. Here you may see herders dressed in their traditional dress. The peak of Gangchentag towers over the campsite, even though it’s quite a distance away. Overnight at Tentend Camp in Limithang.
Day 11: Limithang to Laya (At 3840, dist: 10 kms, time: 4-5 hrs)
Our trek starts by gently descending down along a winding river and pasture land until reaching Mochu river. Then we cross Mochu river and make gentle ascend through the fir forest until reaching the Laya settlement. Overnight at Tented Camp in Laya.
Day 12: Rest and explore Laya village
After breakfast we will make short day hike to Langothang, a flat land above the Laya. From here you can have a view of Laya village, as well as meet the the yak herders. We will move little further to see Blue Sheep. Later walk down throug the village to witness the tradition and culture of Laya. Also we will visit a house in Laya, who has been patron of Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyel to receive blessings from the Zhabdrung’s relics. Zhabdrung also passed through this village. In Laya, you may find sacks of rice and other items being packed at the corner of the house. The rice are being bought from lower valleys and stored as rations for the year. Evening cultural dance programme can be arranged . Overnight at Tented Camp in Laya.
Day 13: Laya to Koina (At 3050 m, dist: 19 kms, time 6-7hrs)
We will have to make exit way below the village and start descending. We will come across the Army outpost at Takshimakhang and about half an hour from the army post, we will arrive at trail junction (3340m) from where the rhe route for the Snowman Trek leads uphill. From here the trek passes through fir and spruce forests.
The routes then keep going downstream on a muddy trail along the Mochu river until we reach at Koina. “Koina” has been the place where Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyel took rest while coming from Tibet. Infact it has been “Ku Nay Nang” meaning place of resting, but later changed to Koina. Overnight at Tented Camp in Koina.
Day 14: Koina to Gasa Tshachu (At 2240 m, dist: 14 kms, time 6-7hrs)
We have to start early morning ascending gently until we reach Bari La, at 3900m. The trek traverses through fir and spruce forest and we may come acoss Monal Pheasant and musk deer on the way. Opposite to the route, accross the Mochu river, you may be able to see Takin if you visit during the fall as Takin migrates towards their winter residence.
From Barila the route descends again, sometimes steeply, through a fir forest with bamboo understorey until we reach Gasa, the District Head Quarters. Against the backdrop of Gangchen Tag Mountain, we can see a majestic Gasa Dzong.
Then we make steep descend to Gasa hotspring and soak in hot spring to relax our tiring body. Overnight at Tented Camp in Gasa Tsachu. The area opposite to hot spring is used by Takin as winter habitat.
Day 15: Gasa to Punakha (At 1310 dist:65 km time 2-3hrs)
After breakfast drive to Punakha and entoute we will pass through the villages of Geyza, Zamina and Damji. If we happen to come during winter months we may be able to see Takin across the river on the other as Takin from the Damji village as they use these area as their winter habitat.
After arriving at Punakha, we will visit Punakha Dzong- built in 1637 at the Confluence of Phochu and Mochu (male and female river). It is one of the most beautiful Dzongs in the country The Punkha Dzong that was built by Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyel bears the historical and religious significance as all the Bhutanese Kings are enthroned there. Still it is used as the winter headquarters by the Central Monastic Community led by the Chief Abbot. Punakha served as the capital of Bhutan until 1955, when the seat of government moved to Thimphu. Later walk around Punakha and Khuruthang town. Overnight at hotel in Punakha.
Day 16: Punakha to Thimphu
After breakfast drive to Thimphu and enroute stop at Dochu la Pass to enjoy the 360 degree of beautiful panoramic view of Himalaya mountain range as well the Druk Wangyal Chortens-108 stupa built by the eldest Queen Mother Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk.
After arriving Thimphu, we will visit Kwangjangsa area where all the heritage and conservation areas are located. Our first visit will be Folk Heritage Museum to see the replica of an age old traditional farmhouse, followed by Traditional Medicine Institute where rich herbal medicines are manufactured and dispensed. Another interesting place to visit will be Traditional School of Arts and Crafts where 13 arts and crafts of Bhutan are taught. Before proceeding to Paro, we will visit the Handicraft Emporium (Government run) as well as private handicraft shops in the town and help one for yourself.
Day 17: Thimphu – Paro (Departure)
Early morning drive around one hour to reach you to the Airport and bid farewell for safe journey.
29 Days/28Nights Snowman trek. Recommended timing: June to October
The Snowman trek is one of the greatest treks in the world, providing highly challenging hiking, in the wildest, taking you to the interior and remotest part of Bhutan and crossing some of the mightiest passes of the Eastern Himalyas. It passes through more than 10 passes lying between altitude of 3500 metres and more than 5000 metres. Enroute we pass through majestic peaks, crystalline waterfalls, turquoise lakes, glacial rivers, mountain flowers, and encounters with rare animals and birds.
Day 01: Paro (Situated at 2200m)
During this flight one will enjoy the view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan Mountains including the sacred Mt. Jhomolhari& Mt. Jichu Drake in Bhutan. Upon landing on the beautiful Paro valley our team (who will be there with you until you depart back) will accord a warm traditional reception and take you to hotel.
After lunch, visit Taa Dzong, previously the watch tower which has been now been converted to National Museum. From Taa Dzong we will take a short trek to visit Rinpung Dzong which was built in 17th Century by Great Zhabdrung Ngwang Namgyel and has served as a key strategic place to defend the external forces. Towards evening you can take a stroll in the town. Overnight at hotel in Paro.
Day 02: Paro: Acclamatization and visit to Taktshang monastery
No trip to Bhutan for that matter is complete without a hike and/or taking pictures of Taktshang monastery. As such after breakfast, drive for half an hour and start the hike to Taktshang, the Tiger Nest Monastery where Guru Rinpochhe is believed to have flown here on the back of a tigress to to spread Buddhism in 746 A.D. The round trip takes about 4 hours. As you reach Taktshang you will be struck by the architectural wonder of this most pious Buddhist shrine in Bhutan.
Towards late afternoon drive further North to visit Drugyel Dzong, or “Castle of the Victorious Drukpa,” that was built by Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyel to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over the Tibetans in the 16thcenturies. It is undergoing reconstruction. Depending upon the weather, the Jomolhari Peak (“Mountain of the Goddess”) can be seen on a clear day (Alt. 7,329m/24,029ft.). Overnight at hotel in Paro.
Towards evening drive further North to visit another symbolic structure, which is now being reconstructed. Drugyel Dzong, or “Castle of the Victorious Drukpa,” was built by the Shabdrung to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over the Tibetans in the 16thcenturies. Depending upon the weather, the Jomolhari Peak (“Mountain of the Goddess”) can be seen on a clear day (Alt. 7,329m/24,029ft.).
Day03: Paro to Thangthangkha (At 3620m, dist: 22 kms, time 7-8 hrs)
After breakfast, drive around 2 hours to Shana, from where the actual trekking starts. Shana, the begining of the trek route also coincide with the boundary of the Jigme Dorji National Park. The entire trek falls with the park area. The trail is gradual and will passes through the conifer forest and Rhododendron following along the Pachu river. The features of the trek is when we reach at Tshenduzam, a magnificent view of Mt. Jhomolhari can be seen. Overnight at Tented camp at Thangthangka.
Day 04: Thangthangkha to Jomolhari base (At 4090 m, dist: 10 kms, time 5-6hrs)
The route passes through the villages of Soe (semi-nomadic community) and will see some government establishments on the way until we reach to our campsite beneath a ruined fortress at the base of Mt. Jhomolhari, situated in place called as Jangothang. Overnight at Tented camps at Jomolhari base camp.
Day 05: Acclimatization at Jomolhari base camp
Jangothang, where actual Jomolhari base camp lies is a perfect environment for acclimatization, as beyond which the trekkers have to pass through high passes. There are various options of taking day hikes, such as trek up to Tsohphu tsho (lake), day-hikes to see great views of Jhomolhari and Jichu Drake, and also interact with nearby herders. Also you will have good chances to spot some blue sheep and on rare occasion see Snow Leopard. Overnight at Tented camps at Jomolhari base camp.
Day 06: Jomolhari base to Camp near Lingshi Dzong (At 4020 m, dist: 18 kms, time 6-7hrs)
After breakfast, start the trek with an ascend up the mountainside until reaching Nyelila pass situated at 4870m. During the ascend you will be seeing the Mt.Jhomolhari, Mt. Jichu Drake and Tsherim Gang all of them rising above 7000 meters apart from seeing folks of blue sheep grazing on the mountain slopes.
From Nyelila pass the trail leads you down to the camp site located at the tree line. Enroute you will pass by some of the yak herder’s tent, made from yak wool, where the herders take shelter while on the move to various pastures along with their their yaks.

Day 07: Lingshi to Chebisa (At 3880m, dist: 10 kms, time 5-6hrs)
Enroute you will see Lingshi Dzong, pass through village below Lingshi Dzong where the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Thimphu has a drying plant for its medicinal herbs.

Day 08: Chebisa to Shomuthang (At 4265m, 17 kms, 6-7 hrs)
The trek starts with an ascend along the meadow till Gobula pass (4440m). Enroute we will see some blue sheep grazing in high yak pastures. After the Gobula pass, it’s mostly desending passing through junipers and fir forest until we arrive at camp beside stream.r Overnight at Tented Camp in Shomuthang.
Day 09: Shomuthang to Robluthang (At 4165 m, dist: 18 kms, time 6-7hrs)
The days start with a short steep climb and then along the ridge and valley crisscrossing the stream for a few times until we reach at Jhari La pass (4760 m). Along the route edelweiss flowers and view of snowcapped peak to the south-east called Khang Bum (6526 m) can be seen. After Jarila, the trail descends down through dwarf rhododendrons, junipers and fir forest till the campsite. The area is also used by takin as their summer habitat and if you visit the area during summer you will see be able to see herds of takin grazing. Overnight at Tented Camp in Robluthang.
Day 10: Robulthang to Limithang (At 4135m, dist: 19 kms, time 6-7hrs)
We will have to start little early as we will be passing over the highest point on this trek, Shingjay la Pass at 5005 m and as such the trek may look tough till the top. From here, we will start descending through a cedar forest interspersed with small meadows to Limithang, which is under Laya Geog (block), under Gasa District. Here you may see herders dressed in their traditional dress. The peak of Gangchentag towers over the campsite, even though it’s quite a distance away. Overnight at Tentend Camp in Limithang.
Day 11: Limithang to Laya (At 3840, dist: 10 kms, time: 4-5 hrs)
Our trek starts by gently descending down along a winding river and pasture land until reaching Mochu river. Then we cross Mochu river and make gentle ascend through the fir forest until reaching the Laya settlement. Overnight at Tented Camp in Laya.
Day 12: Rest and explore Laya village
After breakfast we will make short day hike to Langothang, a flat land above the Laya. From here we can have a view of Laya village, as well as meet the the yak herders. We will move little further to see Blue Sheep. Later walk down throug the village to witness the tradition and culture of Laya. Day 13: Laya to Roduphu (At 4160, dist: 20 kms, time 7-8 hrs)
We will have to make exit way below the village and start descending. Day 14: Roduphu to Narethang (At 4900, dist: 14 kms, time 5-6 hrs)
Start the day by following the Rodhu Chu river river for about half an hour, after which we will have to have a steady climb to a high open valley and then further up to Tsomo La pass at 4,900m, where you can have superb view of Lunana valley and mountain peaks. The route then traverses over a flat and barren plateau reaching campsite at Narethang. At Narethang we will hear the avalanches sound. Overnight at Tented Camp in Narethang
Day 15: Narethang to Tarina (At 3980, distance 16 kms, time 6-7 hours)
Early morning ascend till we reach at Gangla Karchung La pass situated at 5,130 m, providing a breathtaking view of the whole mountain ranges and can see mountains namely Jekangphu Gang (7,105m) and Teri Gang (7,300m). Then, it descends along a large moraine through thick rhododendron to Tarina valley. Enroute we can see glacier descending from Teri Kang to a deep turquoise lake at its foot. Overnight at Tented Camp in Tarina.
Day 16: Tarina to Wachey (At 3900. dist:14 kms, time 6-7 hrs)
The trek leads through the fir forests following the upper ridges of the Pho Chhu river and passing through some impressive waterfalls until reaching at Wachey the first settlement of Lunana geog (block), under Gasa district. Overnight at Tented Camp in Wachey
Day 17: Wachey to Lhedi (At 3700m, dist: 14 kms, time 6-7hrs)
The trek starts with ascending through juniper and fir forests, until reaching at Keche La pass at 4,650m where one can have the great view of surrounding mountains again. Mid way between Kechela and Wachey we will come across beautiful lake below and as we ascend up we leave the lake beneath. A descend will take us to the village and from here we will follow the source of Phochu river until arriving Lhedi Village. Lhedi village is located at the bank of the Phochu river and is the the block centre where the basic government service providers such as health unit, a school, agriculture extension office, livestock extensio office and a wireless telephone connection are established. Overnight at Tented camp in Lhedi.
Day 18: Lhedi to Tenchey (At 4200m, dist: 15 kms, time 6-7 hrs)
Start trek following the the source of Phochu river, passing through Tshozo village which has a Dzong. The Tshozo Dzong is important to Lunana community as it houses their local deity. Enroute we will also come across the sudden flow of Phochu from the underground. Then after leisure walk from Tshozo village you will arrive at Thanza. From Thanza we will have a great view of Table Mountain which forms a 3,000m high wall of snow and ice behind the village. Due to the glacier lake above the Thanza village, the prefered campsite is at Tenchey, opposite the Thanza village. Overnight at camps in Tenchey
Day 19: Rest at Tenchey
There are many short hikes in and around Thanza and Tenchey village such as walking around and experiencing some village life or climb up the ridge for fascinating views of lakes and mountains. Special interest would be of hike up the village to see the project work at Tshothormi lake (glacier lake) which has been threat to the down stream valleys including Punakha valleys.
Day 20: Thanza to Danji (At 4240m, dist:12 kms, time 3-4 hrs)
From the start the route ascends up to a flat grazing land, from where we will have excellent views of Thanza, Toencha and Choso village and the surrounding mountains. Then proceed further until reaching a yak meadow with some yak herders’ huts where the night will be halted. This is also the junction to choose between the route further on to Bumthang or to Sephu (Wangdue Phodrang). Overnight at Tented camps in Danji
Day 21: Danji to Tsochena (At 4950m, dist: 14 kms, time 5-6 hrs)
The trek start off with a long ascend until you reach Jaze La pass at 5,155m. All along the route it provides spectacular panoramic mountain views. The route descends between snow covered peaks and a couple of small lakes taking to the campsite near the Shore of Tshochena Lake. Overnight at Tented camp in Tsochena.
Day 22: Tsochena to Jichu Dramo (At 5000 m, dist: 12 kms, time 5-6 hrs)
As we negotiate this part of the trek, we will come across lot of glacial lakes with frequent acend and descens until reaching the Loju La pass at 5,140m. Then we will enter into a wide glacial valley from where the trail descends gradually to the campsite at Jichu Dramo. Overnight at Tented camp in Jichu Dramo
Day 23: Jichu Dramo – Chukarpo (At 4550m, dist: 12 kms, time 5-6 hrs)
Start the day with ascending to Rinchen Zoe La paa situated at 5,320 m, where we can have a view of spectacular mountain scenery with Gangkhar Puensum amongst the impressive mountain. Then further down, the route leads into a wide valley with several lakes and goes steeply down along a moraine to the Thamphe Chhu and then arrive the campsite. Overnight at Tentend camps in Chukarpo
Day 24: Chukarpo to Tampetsho (At 4300m, dist: 12 kms, time 5-6hrs)
The trek starts first by descedning until reaching yak herders at Gala Pangchu, from where there is steep ascend to arrive at Tampetsho lake, a beautiful clear turquoise lake. Overnight at camp next to Tampe Tso lake
Day 25: Tampetsho lake to Maurothang (At 3600m, dist: 12 kms, time 4-5 hrs)
We will ascend until reaching Thampe La pass situated at 4,600m. Then descend down and enroute will see couple of lakes enroute, the significant one being Omtey Tsho. The route ultimately leads us along the river bank to the yak herders campsite where the campsite for the night halt will be hosted. Overnight at Tented camp in Maurothang.
Day 26: Maurothang to Sephu and then to Phobjikha (5- 6 hours trek and 1 hour drive)
This last part of the trek will also see the change of caraverns of yaks to horses as it will be difficult for yaks to move into the forested regions. The beautiful path follows the Nikka Chhu river to reach a large grassy area overlooking the road and the village of Sephu, where vehicle would be waiting. In Niakachu area at Sephu we will find several stores (mainly selling bamboo products) and small restaurants.
From Nikachu bridge, the vehicle will take around one hour drive to Phobjikha valley across Pele La pass situated at an altitude of 3,150 meters, a wonderful opportunity for photographsr Overnight in hotel at Phobjikha
Day 27: Phobjikha to Thimphu
While proceeding to Thimphu, on the way visit the famous Punakha Dzong built in 17th century by Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyel and also the Chimi Lhakhang. At Dochula pass, stoppage will be there to get the 360 degree panaromic view of the mountains and to revisit some of the mountains that have been seen close while on trek.Overnight at hotel in Thimphu
Day 28: Thimphu to Paro
After breakfast we will visit Tashi Chodzong, the present day Head Quarters of the King, and also summer residence of the Chief Abbot of the Central Monastic Body. Then we will visit Folk Heritage Museum to see the replica of an age old traditional farmhouse, followed by Traditional Medicine Institute where rich herbal medicines are manufactured and where our Traditional Medical practitioners undergo training equivalent to MBBS. Another interesting place to visit will be Traditional School of Arts and Crafts where 13 arts and crafts of Bhutan are taught.
Towards evening we will visit the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and privately owned crafts shops, which offer a wide range of handcrafted products, including the splendid thangkha paintings and exquisitely woven textiles for which Bhutan is famous. Later drive to Buddha Point, where tallest Buddha in Bhutan majestically sit atop the hill overlooking Thimphu town in its entirety.

Day 29: Thimphu – Paro (Departure)
Early morning drive around one hour to reach you to the Airport and bid farewell for safe journey.
